Entertainment Bars

My Way – Paradise Complex

My Way Cabaret was one of the first to open in the Royal Paradise Complex and in so doing it introduced Bangkok performance cabaret to the island and thus galvanized the gay community on the island.

The set up is good, and the show when we saw it comprised 3 ladyboys (including a very tubby one) and 2 male dancers. But the overall feeling was one of “could do better”. Outside show hours there’s a good crop of dancing boys to entertain you. Slightly older boys of all types, so there should be something there to keep you happy. Drinks prices were OK (150B for wine).

Passport – Paradise Complex

You can find Passport at the entrance of Paradise Complex. It’s small and has two tiny podiums inside which have a boy dancing on each. There are a few more boys around asking if you will buy them a drink.

It can get quite fun inside, but it’s not obvious at first!

Super Boys – alley off Sawatdirak Road

Super Boys is an entertainment bar located only a stone throw away from the Paradise Complex. It’s down a small alley off Sawatdirak Road. Small bar, usually not many dancers, but they tend to be fairly minimally attired when dancing! Friendly staff and super boys. Lots of fun to be had here with a limited number of lads. The drinks are cheap!

Tangmo Club – Paradise Complex

One of the biggest venues in the complex is Tangmo Club. Thaphat ‘Tangmo’ Kaewseenuan is probably the single most important business operator in this gay community. She operates at least 10 businesses in the Complex.

There are a nice bunch of dancing boys there, all of which seem to have the right “fun” attitude. There’s a lot of joking around and it makes the place interesting. The show itself is a standard ladyboy lip-synching show, but it’s one of the better ones. The synching is accurate, the lady’s costumes are good and the dancing is energetic. The boy dancers were keen and full of enthusiasm.

All in all a good time and with drinks at a reasonable place, this is one of the “go back to” places.

Show time: 22:30, 23:30 and 01:00 (each show lasts about 40 minutes)

Yes – Paradise Complex

Nice entertainment bar with a show that is well advertised by the barkers in the soi.

The boys themselves are energetic. About a dozen that rotate on the stage. They were mainly gay, but there were all sorts to look over.

The show itself was good, different (ish) and fun. There were a couple of numbers I’d never seen before, including one with a couple of beer bottles. It’s worth a laugh and well worth the 100B for a soft drink or 120B for wine. The staff are not too pushy and it’s got a good feeling. Only downside was the music which was about 100dB too loud.

 Ladyboy/Katoey shows

Aphrodite Cabaret – Phuket Town

Large scale show bar in Phuket Town. Well worth a visit! The sets are spectacular and the performances are as near perfect as you can want. If you’re in Phuket Town evening time this is certainly for your diary.

For more details see their website here – http://phuket-aphroditecabaret.com/index2.html

Boat Bar – Paradise Complex

Boat bar opens at 9 when you can sit at their terrace bar and enjoy a drink, then the fun really starts at midnight. Particularly check out their Ladyboy/Katoey shows at 12.00 midnight and 01.30. The shows are good, but short. That’s not why most people go here. It’s one of the very late night disco clubs in the area and it certainly lives up to this reputation

Simon Cabaret – 8 Sirirach Road

Let your imagination fly…
Since opening in October 18, 1991, Phuket Simon Cabaret has established itself as a market leader as a professional entertainment venue.
For sheer entertainment, the set designs are outstanding, costumes are extravagant and the performers glamorous ! Enjoy the performances in the exclusive, luxurious and intimate theatre with hi-tech sound and lighting equipment.

The show is truly international featuring modern and traditional acts from around the globe in English and alternative languages. You will arrive relaxed but will leave confused as their performers are more of a man than you will ever be and even more of a woman too !

Discos & VERY late night bars

Boat Bar – Paradise Complex

Boat bar opens at 9 when you can sit at their terrace bar and enjoy a drink, then the fun really starts at midnight. Particularly check out their Ladyboy/Katoey shows at 12.00 midnight and 01.30. The shows are good, but short. That’s not why most people go here. It’s one of the very late night disco clubs in the area and it certainly lives up to this reputation

Kiss Bar – Paradise Complex

Great late night disco playing all the right music (house, trance etc) for those of you who like this sort of thing. Just about perfect!

The atmosphere is good and there are some nice touches – such as coming round with free tequila shots just before the show. Show time: 23:45 and 01:30, but although it’s really entertaining, it’s only one number and so is hardly a show. It’s performed out in the soi and there’s a ladyboy with some really energetic dancers around.

If you’re in to late night bars with great music, this place will suit you down to the ground.

Sanook Pub – Patong Sai 3

VERY late night disco pub on the outskirts of Patong. It’s very close to the Sofa Pub. This place is certainly gay friendly.

It’s so popular with the Thais that if you suggest going there, the bar will be closed in milli-seconds and the boys ready to come with you. Starts very late, and ends very late.

Good place to visit if you’re a real night owl and love discos.

Sofa Pub – Patong Sai 3

Very smart VERY late night disco on the outskirts of Patong. Although not specifically gay, it’s extremely gay friendly and it’s where all the Thai boys want to go when the bars in Patong close.

As with all Thai late night discos, this is one best visited with a Thai boy (or better still a whole bunch of Thai boys) in tow…

It’s a really good and frinedly place – great atmosphere – great spirit – just great. Expect to see the dawn outside when you leave!

They have another branch in Phuket Town.

Karaoke

Club Love – Paradise Complex

Now a double bar, since they took over the karaoke that was next door. It’s friendly and right in the thick of things on the main Paradise soi. The staff are very willing and make a fuss of you.

The karaoke itself is under-used. At least it’s only half the bar. If it’s not raining (which it was when this picture was taken), then there are a lot of seats out in the soi where you can watch the world go by.

Good place. Well worth popping into. And if you’ve got a Thai boy who can sing …

OK Karaoke – Paradise Complex

Single unit karaoke with beer bar outside in the Paradise complex. Really underused and the friendly staff are sadly under-employed. If you go there and sit outside you’ll be really made a fuss of.

If you go inside with a lad and sing, then the world’s your lobster!
