Adonis Guesthouse – Paradise Complex

This place has a huge advantage by being at the back of the Paradise Complex. It’s close to the action, but quiet as it’s not TOO close! The rooms are spacious and comfortable.

They have a reasonable security set up with CCTV and a night porter, and they don’t mind guests coming back as long as they’re accompanied.

For all the information see their website here – adonis-phuket.com

The Amethyst – 198/3-4 Phung Muang Sai Gor Road

The Amethyst is located about 10 minutes away from the Paradise complex. It’s a new – just celebrated its second birthday. Although not specifically gay, it’s very gay friendly and the staff are quite happy to help you. No problems at all bringing guests back.

The rooms are clean, large enough and have all the amenities. Being new, it’s still got that “shine” of a new place, but it has had the corners rubbed off!

For all the information see their website here – www.amethystresidence.com

Apsara Residence – 179/11-12 Soi San Sabai

Apsara is tucked away about 10 minutes walk from the Paradise Centre. It’s convenient for the Jung Ceylon, the beach isn’t too far and all the facilities the island has to offer are there. We walked there from paradise in 10 minutes on several occasions.

The staff are friendly, but there are a number of extras to look out for – joiners fees, pay up front etc. They sit at a counter in the street and are there 24/7 to welcome you as you go in.

The rooms are slightly “Thai Style”, but they ahve most of the amenities you’d want.

For more information see their website here – http://apsararesidence.com

Aquarius Guesthouse – Paradise Complex

They advertise themselves as the only “men only” guesthouse!

They are the second soi from the action in Paradise, so are a little quieter than some other places.

The rooms are good and clean and offer all the facilities you’d expect. They list: Free American breakfast: Free entrance to all their facilities: No extra tax or charge: No joiner fee: Lots of free extras included: Monthly prices available all year long

They also have a Sauna and offer massage facilities as well as a very good restaurant and bar! In fact this just about covers all the things you could want from a holiday without leaving the place!

We tried their massage and noted they have correct massage tables with facewells (although there was a pillow over it). The rooms were spotlessly clean and there was a really efficient shower after. It was a nice set up.

For all the information check out their website – www.aquarius-guesthouse.com

Baan Phil – 35/22-23 Rat-U-Thit 200 Pee Road, Patong

This is a nice, gay owned, hotel, about 10 minutes walk along the main road from the Paradise Complex. It is owned by two French men both called Phil and they do a good job. The restaurant is well priced and serves tasty (mainly) Thai dishes. The rooms are clean and spacious and a good price.

This is certainly one to put on your “do look at” list.

Blue Dolphin – Paradise Complex

Blue Dolphin is a gay-owned massage parlour with hotel rooms for gay people. They are  located in the gay area of the Paradise Complex, on a nice, quiet and  safe pedestrian street, yet close to the bars and discos and about 10 minutes away from the beach. The perfect location for a fun and comfortable sleep …

All rooms with private bathroom and hot water, air-condition unit, minibar, safe deposit box, cable TV and good quality mattress. Free WIFI internet available in every room.

The massage itself is good. The rooms are well set up and the boys give a nice service. There is a good shower when you finish and the whole experience is a good one.

C.C. Bloom’s Hotel – 84/21 Patak Soi 10, Karon

The hotel is located in a secluded and quiet area near Kata and Karon beaches, just 20 minutes south of Patong on Phuket Island.

Nestled on the hills of Kata, CC Bloom’s overlooks the beautiful Kata Bay.  There really are great views of the bay, and it is peaceful and quiet. If you want hustle and bustle, this is not the place for you. Quiet and relaxing – it scores every time!

The rooms feel Thai in style, yet they are set up to Western standards. All the mod cons – from Air Conditioning to great showers, flat screen TVs with satellite, safes, etc etc.

The café serves good food, both Western and Thai, and their staff will help you plan your visit and get to the places you’ve only maybe dreamed of.

For all their information see their website here – www.ccbloomshotel.com

Club One Seven – 9/9-10 Prachanukroh Road

Club One Seven Phuket is a boutique gay-orientated guesthouse and restaurant in Patong. It’s around 20 minutes walk or a 50B taxi bike ride from paradise, yet it’s close enough to the “things to do” to be convenient. They are in the middle of a rather nice row of art galleries, which in itself can pass an hour or two while you wander. It’s close enough to the late night bars of Sanook and Sofa, and Simon Cabaret is just round the corner.

They have a good restaurant, pool garden, gym, and all the facilities that you need.

They also have a branch in Singapore

For all the details see their website here – www.cluboneseven.net

Connect Guesthouse – Paradise Complex

One of the stalwarts of the area. The Connect Guesthouse is a remarkable institution.

They opened in 1998 and are still here as a popular hotel and hang-out in Paradise Complex.

The rooms are clean and reasonably priced. The facilities are all that you’d expect from a better guesthouse. The bar is welcoming and the staff are by and large, quick and efficient. They’re certainly friendly.

The restaurant does a good range of food, well cooked and very tasty. Look out on Thursdays for the Thai buffet – at 200B it’s great value.

They also do amazing  “Private Island Gay Day Tours” on Saturdays. More information on the events page here.

I’ve stayed here, and would definitely come back.

Small disadvantage, the main building is right on the main club soi, so the music goes on till late. However, they do have other buildings, just a stone’s throw away, and if a quiet early night is what you’re looking for, then just ask for the quiet building.

You can read all about it here – www.connectguesthouse.com

Their website has links to all sorts of interesting places on Phuket. Do check it out.

FongKaew & Baan Nang Fa Guesthouse – Paradise Complex

This is a pair of nice gay-minded guesthouses in the heart of the Paradise Complex. They are just around the corner from the action, yet far enough away for it not to be a problem. They are reasonably large, having two separate places next door to each other. In total they have 20 rooms and 5 apartments.

The rooms have everything you’d expect from a hotel of this standard. Nice place, friendly staff and the owner is particularly helpful and friendly.

For more information see their website – www.fongkaew.be

James Dean Bar and Guesthouse – 188/22 Likit Plaza, Patong

They have 6 rooms above a travel agents. The rooms are cheap (700B), but OK.  It’s a little bit out of the main area, but well worth looking up if you want to be a little away. There is a good map on their website.

The bar itself is small and at the back of the Travel Agent. The lady running it was friendly enough, but it was hardly a gay bar!

For more information see their website here – www.jamesdeanbar.com

Jochen’s Residence – 241/9 Rat-U-Thit 200 Pee Road

Can’t really say a lot about this place. The location is good – just off the 200 year main road, but we went there to talk to them twice. Both times the place was locked up. It didn’t look deserted, but we didn’t see anyone there. We took this picture and as you can see, it’s not closed and gone, just we couldn’t get in to review it.

For all the details check their website here – www.siam.de/jochen

Loveli Guesthouse – 74 / 29 Soi Banzhan Nanai Road

They are only 2 minutes from the bars, restaurants and shops of central Patong and only 100 Metres 2 minutes walk to the brand new Jungceylon shopping complex.  It’s a good location and not too far from the gay centre. Of course not everyone wants that and for the beach, or as a base to explore the island it’s ideal.

They are very friendly and the rooms are well set up and clean. Nice place!

They are above Phuket Travel and owned by the same people, so if you want any trips or information, that’s available on tap!

For more information see their website here – www.loveliguesthousephuket.com

Minotel – Sawatdirak Road

The Minotel is a boutique guest house offering 20 comfortable and individually air conditioned guest rooms in the centre of Patong. It is just 3 minutes walk to the beach (central area of beach), 5 minutes to Bangla entertainment area and the Jungcelyon shopping and restaurant complex and just 2 minutes to the gay Paradise entertainment area with its nightly cabaret shows. In fact as location goes it’s one of the best places around.

It has a street side restaurant and travel desk at the front of the hotel.

It has very friendly staff  and the rooms are clean and well appointed. Nice place …

For all the information see their website here – www.minotelpatong.com

Newspaper – Paradise Complex

Newspaper Boutique Inn offers 7 rooms. The building is designed and decorated in a Luxury Classic Style.

The rooms are clean, well appointed and give you a good class of stay. However, like many places they suffer from noise from the club soi.

The restaurant is open all day and offers indoor (air conditioned) or outdoor dining. The style is up-market and the menu (which specialises in Thai cooking) reflects this. It’s not budget, but the quality of food justifies the price. Good place for a special night out.

For all the details see their website here – www.newspaperphuket.com

Paradise Resortel – Paradise Complex

This is one of two Paradise Resortels in the area. This one is specifically Paradise Resortel (rather than Paradise Beach). It’s on the second soi of the Paradise Complex and used to be known as the Diamond Inn.

It’s clean, and a cut above some of the other places in the complex. The staff are friendly and although it’s not the cheapest place around, it’s good quality and great value. If you fancy somewhere a tiny bit above the rest, try here. Rack rate room prices range from a “Standard” low season at 900B to a “Deluxe”, Peak season at 3,300B per night.

For more information see their website here – http://www.paradisebeachresortel.com/paradiseresortel/index.html

Phuket Gay Homestay – Neramit Hill Village

This is a brand new venture, tucked away in the quiet hills of Phuket, yet close enough to the action to be convenient. If you feel like hiring a motorbike, it couldn’t be better. They have 5 comfortable rooms, all well equipped, new, clean and great value for money.

One of the few places with a swimming pool, but then being out of the town centre, it’s great.

You have the freedom to just relax on their poolside in a quiet neighborhood, party in Patong, shopping in Phuket town or explore nature and beaches of the magic Island Phuket. 100% recommended!

They have a website with all their details here – http://www.phuketgayhomestay.com and a facebook page here - http://www.facebook.com/PhuketGayHomestay

Puerta Del Sol – Patong Beach

Gay hotel just outside the Paradise Complex off the Rat-U-Thit 200 Pee Road. And when we say just outside, we really do mean just outside. it’s very close. it’s also in the direction walking to the gay beach, so that’s convenient too.

It’s set out in the style of American Motels, with rooms accessed from public walkways. The staff are good and the rooms clean and well set up. It says it’s gay only, but we saw a very straight looking couple while we were there, but they are 100% gay friendly.

They claim hotel service with a hostel price. The service is good, the price reasonable, and it would be a place well worth considering.

They have a sister hotel in Madrid in Spain.

For all the information see their website here – www.hostalpuertadelsolphuket.com

Sundowners Bar & Guesthouse – Paradise Complex

The Sundowners Bar and Guesthouse is situated on the exit road in the Royal Paradise Complex in the best possible location, central and convenient to everything, ten minutes walk to the beach.

The Guest House is not a full service hotel and does not try to imitate Western hotels or the things that they provide.  They are a small intimate Thai operated Guest House that is comfortable nicely furnished and bright. This is Thailand and personal concern, with a smile, is their way. They have 7 rooms, 3 with King size beds and 4 with Queen size beds.

The bar is welcoming and friendly. It’s in the thick of things and is run by efficient Thai boys and does really well. Nice place just to sit!
