Aquarius Guesthouse – Paradise Complex

They advertise themselves as the only “men only” guesthouse!

They are the second soi from the action in Paradise, so are a little quieter than some other places.

The rooms are good and clean and offer all the facilities you’d expect. They list: Free American breakfast: Free entrance to all their facilities: No extra tax or charge: No joiner fee: Lots of free extras included: Monthly prices available all year long

They also have a Sauna and offer massage facilities as well as a very good restaurant and bar! In fact this just about covers all the things you could want from a holiday without leaving the place!

We tried their massage and noted they have correct massage tables with facewells (although there was a pillow over it). The rooms were spotlessly clean and there was a really efficient shower after. It was a nice set up.

For all the information check out their website – www.aquarius-guesthouse.com

Backstage :: Purple Meeting Point – Paradise Complex

Backstage, is really your home away from home. It’s a great place to drop in to and meet new friends. The boys are very welcoming without being pushy. If you want to sit and chat with your friends, or read on your own, you can. If you want to buy a boy a drink, you can too.

They also have a good kitchen, which turns out a really nice daily special and has a small menu of food choices. The spring rolls are wonderful! Opening 1 p.m. – 2 (?) a.m. Sometimes there are big parties at Backstage, but more often it’s just what you make it. They support other venues and are active in supporting the community.

For all their customers they offer free use of Wifi. It’s not the sort of place you have to dress up. Simply “come as you are.”

For all the details check out their website – www.backstage.asia

Boat Bar – Paradise Complex

Boat bar opens at 9 when you can sit at their terrace bar and enjoy a drink, then the fun really starts at midnight. Particularly check out their Ladyboy/Katoey shows at 12.00 midnight and 01.30. The shows are good, but short. That’s not why most people go here. It’s one of the very late night disco clubs in the area and it certainly lives up to this reputation

For more information check out their website here – www.boatbar.com

Boy’s Room – Paradise Complex

Single unit bar at the road end of the main Paradise Complex soi. It’s nice and the waiters are friendly. Run by the Tangmo group and should do well. Needs a little “jazzing up”, but when we were there (March 2012) was just starting. So we wish them well and see what happens!

C.C. Bloom’s Hotel – 84/21 Patak Soi 10, Karon

The hotel is located in a secluded and quiet area near Kata and Karon beaches, just 20 minutes south of Patong on Phuket Island.

Nestled on the hills of Kata, CC Bloom’s overlooks the beautiful Kata Bay.  There really are great views of the bay, and it is peaceful and quiet. If you want hustle and bustle, this is not the place for you. Quiet and relaxing – it scores every time!

The rooms feel Thai in style, yet they are set up to Western standards. All the mod cons – from Air Conditioning to great showers, flat screen TVs with satellite, safes, etc etc.

The café serves good food, both Western and Thai, and their staff will help you plan your visit and get to the places you’ve only maybe dreamed of.

For all their information see their website here – www.ccbloomshotel.com

Chic Bar – Paradise Complex

A more stylish and contemporary looking bar with comfortable seating next door to Kiss in the Paradise Complex.

It’s a good place (as are most of the Paradise Bars) to sit and watch the world. Gets noisy from its neighbours and they have impromptu shows from the ladyboys at the Boat Bar and My Way up the soi. The only thing is that lip synching to a song, when the speakers are in another bar …

Drinks the same price as anywhere else and service friendly and efficient.

Club Love – Paradise Complex

Now a double bar, since they took over the karaoke that was next door. It’s friendly and right in the thick of things on the main Paradise soi. The staff are very willing and make a fuss of you.

The karaoke itself is under-used. At least it’s only half the bar. If it’s not raining (which it was when this picture was taken), then there are a lot of seats out in the soi where you can watch the world go by.

Good place. Well worth popping into. And if you’ve got a Thai boy who can sing …

Good Time Bar & Restaurant – Rawai

It opened on the 25th February and has been doing good trade since. It’s a little tucked away, being in Rawai, but it’s not hard to find. The food is good, the drinks are cheap and the service is wonderful. The lads are helpful and smart – what more could you want?

They have a facebook page with lots of photos here – http://www.facebook.com/pages/GOOD-TIME-BAR-RESTAURANT/230581867014371

Heaven Bar – Paradise Complex

Small bar which has been very popular and has had a long history in Patong. It is not on the main soi (although it’s only 25 m away) and this affects its trade. But the bar advertises the cheapest drinks around and who are we to argue with that? They are certainly cheap. The boys are friendly, although they sometimes seem more interested in playing pool than serving the customers!

James Dean and Friends – Paradise Complex

Small bar in the Paradise Complex. The staff will do their utmost to drag you in, but that’s their job, It’s the same price as anywhere else in the complex, and offers great views of the two entertainment bars opposite!

Great place to sit and watch the World go by!

James Dean Bar and Guesthouse – 188/22 Likit Plaza, Patong

They have 6 rooms above a travel agents. The rooms are cheap (700B), but OK.  It’s a little bit out of the main area, but well worth looking up if you want to be a little away. There is a good map on their website.

The bar itself is small and at the back of the Travel Agent. The lady running it was friendly enough, but it was hardly a gay bar!

For more information see their website here – www.jamesdeanbar.com

Jan Bar and Restaurant – Paradise Complex

Small bar on the South end of the complex, out of the limelight. It’s not too busy. The food comes from a small Thai kitchen next door.

Kai Boy Bar & Massage – Paradise Complex

Kai bar is one of the smaller bars on the entry road to the complex. Being away from the main area, it suffers, but the boys are friendly and the prices are OK. If you want a quiet drink with a nice lad, then this is the place to go.

They also do massage upstairs. They have one room with a double size mattress on the floor. At least they cover it with a clean (silk?) sheet and make it look inviting. The room itself is a bit scruffy, but it does have air-conditioning and they do a good massage (if you get the right boy).

It was a little expensive, but I “think they saw me coming”. The shower is nice and spacious, but there was no hot water. Worth trying once.

You can follow them on Facebook here – www.facebook.com

Sundowners Bar & Guesthouse – Paradise Complex

The Sundowners Bar and Guesthouse is situated on the exit road in the Royal Paradise Complex in the best possible location, central and convenient to everything, ten minutes walk to the beach.

The Guest House is not a full service hotel and does not try to imitate Western hotels or the things that they provide.  They are a small intimate Thai operated Guest House that is comfortable nicely furnished and bright. This is Thailand and personal concern, with a smile, is their way. They have 7 rooms, 3 with King size beds and 4 with Queen size beds.

The bar is welcoming and friendly. It’s in the thick of things and is run by efficient Thai boys and does really well. Nice place just to sit!

For all the details see their website – www.sundownersinparadise.com

Sundowner’s Lounge – Paradise Complex

Formerly known as “The Orchid, this has recently been taken over by the good people at Sundowners and added to their portfolio. They’ve done it proud!

The ground floor has a terrace bar with comfortable seating, soft background music (a bit redundant sometimes with the volume coming from opposite!) and complimentary WiFi internet. The bar drinks menu boasts over 50 different cocktails, a selection of fine wines & Champagne, spirits, beer, fresh fruit shakes and soft drinks. All in all it’s another bar and will attract those people who want to go there. It has a regular and loyal crowd.

Temptasian Bar – Paradise Complex

UPDATE 13/03/12 CURRENTLY CLOSED. NOT SURE IF IT WILL RE-OPEN

Small contemporary bar in Paradise complex, a great place to chill out before heading to the clubs.

Time B & B – Paradise Complex

Time Bar in Soi 5 Royal Paradise Complex first opened its doors in 1999 and has been a key fixture of Phuket’s gay scene ever since.

It’s a fun bar that has a relaxed atmosphere amid the hustle and bustle of the soi. It’s a good place to sit and watch the action take place around you, yet still feel able to breathe.

It’s run by Dan and Jessica, a Thai couple who are very popular with the Western gay tourists as they offer traditional Thai hospitality in a relaxing, informal setting.
